Mount Waverley Café with a Whole Lot of Soul!
The Soulful Home Café in Mount Waverley is not only a shop that serves freshly brewed coffee and a delicious breakfast, lunch and brunch…..it is a truly happy place that is the heartbeat of the community.
Located at 12 The Highway (just off Stephenson’s Road), Soulful Home Café was opened by locals Dimpy, the secretary of the Mount Waverley Traders Association, and her husband Robin in January.
“Before I started this project I successfully ran a few food businesses and a café mainly in the Melbourne CBD for nearly 10 years,” Dimpy said. “After COVID I wanted to tap into the suburban market bringing my love for plant based, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food.”
Dimpy said they wanted to bring a point of difference with a variety of flavours.
“Our menu is influenced by the subcontinent. We’ve got a few dishes inspired from Asian and Mediterranean countries as well as dishes with a Caribbean and South American influence,” she said.
“We make all own cheese, sauces, pita bread and other breads. People love feeling the difference when they eat our food.”
The most popular dishes at Soulful Home Café are the breakfast burgers, dumpling salad bowls, chicken avocado toasties, pork Cubano and breakfast tacos.
“Our menu has a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options. What we realised that in Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley, even though meat dishes are popular, there are a lot of people that appreciate vegetarian food,” Dimpy stated.
Customers of Soulful Home Café can enjoy all day breakfast and all day lunch menus.
The 48 seat café with courtyard seating for up to 20 is also unique in its location.
“It’s a stand alone business with a private courtyard and plenty of parking at the doorstep away from the noisy main road location,” Dimpy said.
“The idea behind this was to create a Zen environment – very peaceful, calm and composed where people can come in, relax, have a good conversation and spend quality time with their family or friends.”
Soulful Home Café offers event catering and hosting for business meetings, birthday parties and family gatherings. Meditation classes are conducted every Sunday morning from 7 to 8am and sound healing sessions are held on the first Thursday of each month from 5 to 6pm.
The cafe is open from 7.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on weekends.
